GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation – FAQs

What is the GDPR?

The GDPR (or General Data Protection Regulation, formally Regulation (EU) 2016/679), is a European (EU) regulation that unifies and strengthens the data protection rights of people in the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA).

It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU and EEA areas. The GDPR aims primarily to give control to individuals over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for international business by unifying the regulation within the EU.

What is the difference between a Data Processor and Data Controller?

Within our business, the data controller is the party who determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data; which in this case is Zoom Analytics’ customer.

When data is collected the controller is the individual making the data request.

The processor in this scenario is Zoom Analytics.

While the controller is the vehicle for requesting said data, the processor processes the personal data on behalf of the controller.
Personal data can include but is not limited to, an individual’s name, contact information, email address and IP address.
